HONOLULU CITY LIGHTS

It's been a tradition in Hawaii every year to kickoff the Christmas season with the lighting of the Christmas Tree at the Honolulu Hale, most appropriately known as the Honolulu City Lights. This event, sponsored by the City and County of Honolulu was Saturday, December 5, at 6:25pm. Following the lighting of the tree, the Electric Light Parade, one of the most unique parades in the country, commenced and ran throughout downtown.

 

FESTIVAL OF TREES

This annual Christmas craft fair featured Christmas trees, ornaments, wreaths, and gift items for sale. Proceeds from the fair will benefit the Queen's Medical Center. The event took place at Ward Warehouse on December 3, 1998 (6:00pm to 8:00pm), December 4 & 5 (10am to 8:00pm), and December 6 (10:00am to 3:00pm).

 

PACIFIC HANDCRAFTERS GUILD CHRISTMAS FAIR

Known as being Hawaii's oldest annual craft fair, this year's event featured food booths, entertainment, craft demonstrations and a wide selection of arts and crafts for sale. This event took place on December 5 & 6, 1998 at Thomas Square from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

 

HONOLULU SYMPHONY/UNITED AIRLINES POPS PRESENTS A VERY CAZIMERO CHRISTMAS WITH THE BROTHERS

On December 11 & 12, 1998 Aaron Mahi, Guest Conductor, The Brothers Cazimero, and the Kamehameha Schools Glee Club were featured in an annual performance at the Neal Blaisdell Concert Hall.

 

A CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS AT MISSION HOUSES MUSEUM

On Dec 11th 1998, the Mission Houses Museum staff guided tours through the three historic houses including a printing demonstration on their printing press, journal readings, and a music concert.

 

HONOLULU MARATHON

In its 26th year, the Honolulu Marathon featured over 25,000 runners from around the state and world. On Sunday, December 13, 1998, at approximately 6:00am, the 26.2 mile event commenced at the intersection of Ala Moana Boulevard and Queen's Street.

 

JINGLE BELL RUN

This annual two-mile run is scheduled to took place at 6:00pm on December 19, 1998. The run began at the City Municipal Building and ended at the Aloha Tower Marketplace.

 

CHRISTMAS NAUTICAL LIGHTS ANNUAL PARADE

The Christmas decorated Nautical Lights Annual Parade took place on December 19, 1998 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The parade started at the Ala Wai Marina and ended at Honolulu Harbor.

 

OUTRIGGER HOTELS PRESENTS THE HONOLULU BOY CHOIR

The popular Honolulu Boys Choir will be featured in two performances this Holiday season. Presented by Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, you canenjoy popular Christmas songs and dances featuring a traditional celebration for the entire family. The December 21, 1998 performance will start at 6:30pm in the hotel lobby of the Outrigger Reef on the Beach (2169 Kalia Road). On December 22, 1998 at 6:00pm, the performance will be held in upper lobby of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach (2335 Kalakaua Avenue).

 

JEEP ALOHA BOWL/JEEP OAHU BOWL

For the first time in the 17 years the Aloha Bowl will be a double- header. Hawaii will host the Jeep Eagle Aloha Bowl slated for a December 25, 1998 showdown at the Aloha Stadium.
