Current Featured Trail Head:

Manoa Falls Trail
for the first trail, I'll use this because it is probably the one I get the most requests for info about

past Trail Heads | general info

Probably one of my most requested trails regarding information, and one of my favorites. Consists of a path that winds through a rain forest to a waterfall (Manoa Falls) near the base of the Ko'olaus. Great for a family hike.

Type of hike: Valley

Located at the very back of Manoa Valley on Oahu's Leeward Side.

Trail Length: 2 miles round trip

Drive to the end of Manoa Road past the Lyon Arboretum. Park and cross the foot-bridge to the trailhead. This trail is the start of three trails: Manoa Falls, Luaalaea, and Aihualama.

Access: Public Trail

This trail is rated as EASY.
It's going to be pretty muddy, though, usually is. Don't wear your best clothes.

Hazards: beware of falling rocks from above the waterfall, shouldn't be too much of a problem though

Always: sturdy shoes, water, cell phone
Additionally: bring some towels for the seats in your car afterwards, a swimsuit is good too if you plan to swim at the falls, lunch there is nice too

Bring a swimsuit, after the muggy and humid hike, the waterfall will call to you.

General Information.

First, if I have pictures of the trail, I will put them up. If you don't see any images, sorry, I don't have any that are available

For any Oahu trail, heck, any trail anywhere, always bring the following:

-water and snacks
-sunscreen
-knife of some sort
-cell phone
-sturdy shoes
-bright clothing of some sort
-and tell someone where you're going
-and, most importantly, a camera for
SENDING TRAIL IMAGES BACK TO ME!

No matter how easy the hike, always BE CAREFUL, the Sacred Falls landslide is a good example. Also, be aware that all fresh water on Oahu can contain the Leptospirosis Bacteria and take precautions whenever swiming.

If our information is out of date, sorry, we try to be as accurate as possible.

Around Oahu and the editor take no responsibility for any of this stuff, it's that simple.
